Aircraft-monted thermal imagers enhance the safety of flight during nighttime operations. Hazards such as power lives can be easily seen and identified with a thermal imager. But while traditional aircraft-mounted systems can be prohibitively expensive, far more affordable hand-held units can be used when a window is opened or a door removed.
